Vehicle Carbon Offset Calculator - Tutorial
The following Vehicle Carbon Offset Calculator utilizes the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) database and formulas to determine the estimated total CO2 equivalent (tCO2e, in tons per year) produced by a specific passenger vehicle. For purposes of standardization, the parameters used are 15,000 travel miles per year comprised of 45% highway and 55% city driving. The carbol offset calculator will prompt for year, state, make, and model. It will then allow type of vehicle to be selected from the list of vehicles and generate detailed report of the selected vehicle.

The final report will show many statistics of your vehicle e.g. Air Polluation Score, Greenhouse Gas Score, however, the most important value is the Greenhouse Gases Emitted. This is the value for which equates to the amount of Carbon Offset you must purchase to qualify for Metro's Free Parking Program.

The sample report demonstrates where to find the value needed to convey to the Metro-qualified entity from whom you decide to purchase the corresponding carbon offsets from.

Step 1: Select your vehicle's year, state, make, and model and click on 'Submit' button

Step 2: Select your vehicle type

Step 3: Scroll down and review your 'Greenhouse Gases Emitted' score
